BEFORE YOU APPLY

Questions, often asked.

On the practice, membership, and what medicine demands — plainly answered.

On Joining

Who It's For

Patients who want one physician, across years — not across visits. People who prefer unhurried evaluation to rushed appointments, and who want complex decisions reviewed by the full board before they reach them. Medic is built for long-term medicine, not episodic care.

Many of our patients are healthy — they come for thorough evaluation, a clear picture of their baseline, and a plan to stay well. Preventive medicine done properly takes time most practices can't offer. That's what we're built for.

No referral required. Patients apply directly — often after reading about the practice, or by introduction from someone already on our roster. Many applicants do come recommended by their current doctors, though. We review every application the same way, regardless of how you arrived.

Patients whose care can be managed entirely in fifteen-minute appointments with occasional tests. Those who prefer rotating through specialists rather than building a long relationship with one. If standard primary care works for you, Medic would be an unnecessary expense.

Practical Details

How It Works

A long first visit — typically sixty to ninety minutes. Your physician reviews your complete history, orders baseline diagnostics if needed, and spends most of the time listening. By the end, you'll have a documented care plan and a direct way to reach them.

Directly. Every patient has a line that reaches their physician — not the front desk, not a triage queue. Email, phone, or the patient portal. Non-urgent messages get answered the same day or next; anything time-sensitive, much faster.

First visits run sixty to ninety minutes. Follow-ups, typically thirty to forty-five. Complex cases take longer — we schedule the time each case needs, not the time the calendar allows. No extra charge for going over.

Telemedicine, yes — for follow-ups, quick questions, and routine check-ins. First visits and complex evaluations are in-person. House calls happen occasionally, for patients who genuinely need them. Talk to your physician about what fits your situation.

Membership & Pricing

Cost & Membership

Annual membership fees are published in our application materials and depend on level of care needed. We don't advertise specific numbers publicly because the right answer depends on your situation. Applicants receive a transparent quote before any commitment.

Unlimited appointments with your physician, direct access between visits, annual comprehensive evaluation, preventive diagnostics, and board review for complex cases. Prescriptions, referrals, and coordination with outside specialists are included. Lab fees, imaging, and procedures are billed separately or through your insurance.

Yes — for medical services. Visits, procedures, lab work, and imaging can be billed through most major insurance plans. The annual membership fee itself is direct-pay, as is standard for concierge practices. We verify your coverage before any service so you know what's included.

HSA and FSA funds are generally eligible for membership fees and out-of-pocket medical costs — check with your plan administrator for specifics. For medical services, insurance handles most billing directly. We provide detailed statements for anything you'd like to submit for additional reimbursement.

When It Matters

Emergencies & Referrals

We refer you to people we'd send our own families to — not the next name on a list. Your physician arranges the consultation, shares your records in full, and stays involved in interpreting results. You don't get handed off; we coordinate the care.

For life-threatening emergencies, call 911 immediately — we don't replace emergency services. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, your physician is reachable by direct line, including after hours and weekends. Many situations that feel urgent at 2am can be resolved with a ten-minute call.

Yes — it's part of what we do. Your physician communicates with your other doctors, reviews reports you've gathered elsewhere, and advocates for you during hospitalizations. If you're admitted somewhere, we stay involved. Medicine works better when someone is tracking the full picture.

Membership is portable for telemedicine continuity — your physician remains reachable from anywhere. For in-person care while traveling, we help you find trusted colleagues in most major cities and coordinate with them. If you move permanently and continuity becomes impractical, we'll transition your care thoughtfully to someone we vouch for.
